Build your dreams

7/01/2016

Do you have a dream? Do you dare to live your dream? My dream and aspiration keep changing as I grow up. When i was very young, I wanted to be a florist, because it seems to be a very beautiful job to be able to look at fresh flowers every day. A simple bouquet of flowers could easily bring a smile on someone's face. Every stalk of flower had a meaning to it, which could be deciphered by the recipient through the unspoken "flower code".

It changed multiple times during my teenager years. I wanted to be a teacher when I left secondary school, so I became a childcare teacher immediately after I finished my
secondary school "O" level examination. After working for some weeks, I realised that I did not enjoy what I was doing, because I felt more like a nanny than a teacher, baby sitting young children all the time.

I left my job and continued schooling because I understood the importance of education. I enjoyed the days studying in school. Life was simpler, other than getting good grades, I did not need to bother much. I wished that I never had to leave school. Few years later, when the opportunity strikes, I became an adult educator. A product trainer to be exact. For years, I struggled to climb the career ladder, as I fought for the ranks. Every day was a rat race, until my boss whom was in the organization for 25 years left. He was retrenched. This incident hit me hard.

My dream now is to be my own boss, to own a dog grooming salon, to be an entrepreneur. I am struggling to make ends meet because of the financial difficulties I am now facing. Can you imagine living on your savings for close to 2 years? Seeing your money from your bank account decreasing slowly. Yet, I still have loans to repay despite running my own business.

"If you can dream it, you can do it."

I am struggling to recuperate my initial investment because of the equipment, products and overheads which I had invested into my business.  A pair of good, decent trimming scissors would easily cost me over $500 and I need at least 2-3 different types of scissors to complete trimming one dog.

My friend advised me to ask for a personal loan. But I would rather struggle for now, to make ends meet, than to struggle with the repercussions of repaying back the loan. I do not believe in free lunch. I believe in working hard, going slow but steady.
