Food Review: Wan He Lou - Unite your senses at Down to earth prices

Where's a nice place to try some interesting food on a Saturday Morning? I was invited to a round of food tasting along with a few other bloggers at Wan He Lou. Who will reject such a good offer? Hmm.. there's no such thing as free food in this world. It all comes with the price to pay. Either you'll have to pay with work, or sacrifice your waistline.

You cannot miss the big signage along Maude Street with a lobster on it and the beautiful hanging lanterns located just outside the restaurant.

Wan He Lou is only about 10 months old. You may have seen them featured in Hungrygowhere.com as well as on Style check in.

Before I introduce to you some awesome dishes, there is something you will like from this restaurant. They do not charge GST and service fees.

This is their Signature Lobster Porridge - $29.90 (good for 2).

The chef will brew the stock for the porridge for a couple of hours to perfection, then using his special recipe and adds in the rice for the porridge and puts in the lobster last. This ensure that the lobster will not be over cooked.

The lobster is taken out of the pot and served separately from our porridge so as to ensure that it will not be overcooked. This makes removing the meat almost effortless.

You can taste the essence of the lobster along with the porridge soup, this beats having plain boring porridge anytime.

Prawn ball with Aloe Vera and Osmanthus - $21.90

The springy prawn balls were delicious with a hint of the Osmanthus fragrance. The only flip side is that though we know how nutritious the Aloe Vera can be, most of us felt that it was a little too bitter if we were to eat the Aloe Vera on its own. We suggested that the Aloe Vera may be made to taste sweeter in this dish but we also understand the risk of spoiling the healthy dish.

Crispy Salt & Pepper Chinese Yam - $12.90

From the looks of this dish, you would have guessed that this was fried scallop, from the first bite you would think that this is chestnut. I would never imagine myself biting into a fried Chinese Yam. This dish is gorgeous! The crunch that the Chinese yam gives you, alongside with the crispy outer batter is an interesting fusion. Do try this when you are here. You will not regret.

Fried Cod Fish with spicy sauce - Price unknown

You can request the way you may like the restaurant to prepare your cod fish. Some like it steamed, while others prefer it fried to a crisp with a sauce over it. Our version was fried over a spicy sauce. It feels more on the sweet side but rather different from what I would usually eat, which is over garlic and steamed to retain its freshness.

Fresh Vegetable Juice - $3

The name would have startled you, especially so if you are one who detest vegetables. This juice made of Pineapple, Sour Plum and CaiXin is not scary at all. It is refreshing and tasty. You cannot really taste the CaiXin. Beat the haze with this must have drink.

Crispy Lotus with Salted Egg - $11.90

If you are here with your drinking buddies or catching up with friends, this is most suitable for you. The Crispy Lotus with Salted Egg dish is a favorite for many including myself. It is more of a snack then a dish itself. The Lotus is sliced thinly and fried to a perfect crisp. I guarantee you will be picking up one after another without a second thought.

Beauty Service Review: ReFirme Facial with my all time favourite EHA Clinic (Sponsored)

After a week of work, I finally found time to be pampered by the beauticians at EHA Clinic. I just love how prompt they are in their services, never having you to worry about waiting for too long or feeling intimidated by their hard selling and stuff. I am back at EHA Clinic by Dr Elias Tam to try the EHA ReFirme facial. I had Winnie to attend to my needs. As this was not the first time I was being attended by her, it does brings familiarity and I was at ease when with her. Her massage skills are superb and this time round I fell asleep immediately after she put on the mask for me.

I was there to experience EHA ReFirme, a skin lifting and collagen producing facial which makes use of something like an IPL. Don't worry as this is painless. Winnie is very skillful, so even though you get the "light stinging effect", it is really minimal.

The EHA ReFirme facial will take you about 2 hours and it will cost you $368SGD for a session. (Comes with a heavy price tag, which makes me understood how blessed I am).

The usual facial procedures of make-up removal, exfoliation, cleansing of face and cold facial steaming to open up your facial pores are included in this EHA ReFirme facial session.

Winnie then continued with the Aqua ST treatment which I had previously experienced before so it wasn't new to me. This treatment is customized to your skin condition where she will put the suitable solutions into the machine to cleanse and hydrate your skin.

The nozzle from the machine that releases the solution as well as sucking in the dirt from your skin. It feels like a "wet" vacuum cleaner.

Next comes the star of the show, the ReFirme ST machine.

She will tell me its going to be cold, or a little prickly etc.

By the time she place the face mask on me, i was totally relaxed and having a good rest. After my rest, she applied all the usual and necessary EHA skin products on me. I love all of them :)

I had a very relaxing facial with Winnie. The effective ReFirme Facial had effectively lightened my skin tone and tightened my sagging face muscles through the combination of IPL and RF simultaneously. My face still feels smooth 2 weeks after the EHA ReFirme facial.

Here is a photo of me without make-up taken after the EHA ReFirme facial. My face did looked a little smaller and less "round" because of the toning and lifting effect from the ReFirme facial. I noticed that even my acne scars have faded a little. Even after 2 weeks, I could still feel my face has not lost the firmness and still feels silky smooth. Beauty Product Review: Sephora Smart Liner - For your perfect cat eye (Sponsored)

Wee! I've got to try out a new product again! This lovely product that I'll be introducing you is none other than my daily make-up essential. This is a must have in every lady's make-up bag! Sephora Smart Liner is a 24-hour long wearing eyeliner with a packaging like a mini "gun", that enables you a super-easy application and almost foul prove precision line. No worries even if you are a newbie of eyeliners. Right or left-handed, its ergonomic and innovative design makes perfecting the line effortless and flawless.

The Sephora Smart Liner does not contain Parabens, Sulfates and Phtalates.

Look at the fine and precise tip of the eyeliner.

Just gently tilting the eyeliner will allow me to easily create the precise wing of the cat eyes. Look at the black pigments, its a true black colour.
Suggested Usage Instructions (Recommended by Sephora):

1) Lift up your chin and look in the mirror below your face. Lower your eyelids so you can apply your makeup effortlessly.

2)For a doe-eyed look, press lightly on the tip to widen the line then apply over the base of the upper eyelashes allowing the line to go over the base of the eyelashes by 0.2 inch.
3)Hold the Smart Liner with the index finger hugging the upper curve of the utensil. The tip of the thumb should be close to that of the index finger. The other three fingers are folded in a hold over the Smart Liner.

4)Once you have a firm hold on the Smart Liner, draw a line from the inner corner of the upper eyelid towards the outer corner.

A simple look created out of my new Sephora Smart Liner, Maybelline BB Cream, Etude House lipstick and Clinique Concealer powder. I did not use any eyeshadow.

I love how long wearing this eyeliner is, lasting me a day through work without the need of having to touch up. It does not smudge on an oily eyelid like mine but it was surprisingly easy to remove at the end of the day. You can remove it using warm water or a normal make-up remover.

This eyeliner does not contain the typical "ink" smell you get and glides effortlessly, creating the cat eyes we all wanted. It is easy to use due to its ingenious design and ergonomics. I love how cute it looks and how easy it can be stored away even on a mini-pouch. I do not need to worry about finding a "long" casing/pencil case to store my eyeliner anymore.

A good eyeliner will ensure that you can create the look you want almost effortlessly. Regardless of your skills and time. A good eyeliner needs to be long-lasting and does not smudge easily. Sephora Smart Liner has all the qualities required. I am in love with it.

Beauty Service: An evening spend at Tang Dynasty Wellness Spa, The Royal Treatment You Deserve (Sponsored)

In this modern society, we often get so busy that we neglect our health. Do you often feel ache and pains on your body? What you need most is a body massage like me! When Street Directory offered me a chance to take on either a body massage or foot massage, I knew immediately I needed a body massage. With all those sitting in the office, bending my body and stress level building up, this was exactly what I needed the most.

They are opened 24-hours, so fear not if you decide to patronize them in the middle of the night, while you are shopping around the area.

So I was invited to Tang Dynasty. Part of me was wondering, isn't this place a tourist attraction? I thought they had closed down for quite sometime back? Well, I was in fact half correct thou I mistaken this for the one near Chinese Garden. This massage place is frequent by many tourist.

This is the place I was referring to. I was kind of unhappy with them telling me that there was no reservation made for me initially as I had rushed down after a last-minute farewell for my boss. Luckily they managed to resolve it after me making some calls to check.

The oriental steps that lead me up to Tang Dynasty Wellness Spa.

The front desk, counter area where their staff greeted me. They had very relaxing lightnings which put my mind to ease the moment I stepped in. I thought it was also very clever to use dividers to separate different areas and the whole place looks like a mini palace in the olden days.

I was ushered to this area and given a cup of hot tea while I wait for my masseur to get ready a room to begin my massage. This area was also where they will be doing your foot massage. Your partner can also wait here while you get your massage done. They have some programs on the television, so it wouldn't be too boring waiting for you. My husband commented that the staff even asked if he needed a blanket. Now I think they deserve some credit for asking.

This is where I laid on to have my massage done. Only towels and disposable panty is provided. So you can change into them and get ready for your masseur.

I have chosen an oriental massage which is suppose to cost me $60 for 60 minutes. There are also other services, like foot reflexology, Ba Guan, Gua Sha, Ear Candling and Ear Cleaning services, which you can check out their services and pricing here.

No, you are not getting photographs of me laying naked on this bed for the massage. But do read on to find out more about this royal treatment place.

In case you are wondering, yes they do have shower facilities in the room but the advise of the masseur is that you should not shower within 2 hours after your massage is done. This is because the blood circulation is still taking place and there's massage oil on your skin that you want your skin to absorb. The Chinese also believe that this will lead to rheumatism "Feng Shi".

The skill of the masseur was relatively good, she was experienced and she did not cause any "blue black" or inflict any wounds on me like how some inexperienced masseur would. She would check with me if it was too painful for me to take it and she knew where all my "knots" were. She would then try to relief the tensions there, warning me that it will be painful so I must bear with it.

Overall I am delighted with both the service by the masseur and the environment. It is no wonder they were awarded with the 2013 Singapore Excellence Award. Do give them a try if you are looking for massage services!
